ATTENTION: National Prednisolone Shortage
August 17th, 2020
What is happening?
Due to the national health emergency (COVID-19) there is a shortage of the drug Prednisolone. We do not know if this is a manufacturing or supply problem. We do not know when the supply will be replenished.
What is All About Cats doing to ensure your cat can continue therapy?
We will be stocking Prednisolone from other suppliers, they will look different and they will be much more expensive than normal. We do not have control over the pricing. We are allocating a 1 month supply at a time to ensure as many patients as possible have access. A liquid version of Prednisolone 3mg/mL is still currently available if you think this may be an option for your cat. This is a special order item; contact us in advance.
What can cat caregivers do to help?
Please give our office as much notice as you can to ensure we can get you a refill. You can have your medication ordered through a local or national compounding pharmacy. The cost will still be higher and there may be some shipping times involved, so please keep this in mind. You can order more than a 30 day supply through a compounding pharmacy.
Have further questions?
Please do not hesitate to reach out to our office either by phone or e-mail with questions. We are happy to supply you with an estimate for a 30 day supply based on your individual cat’s dosing.
