Meet the Team

Kirkland, Washington

Richard Lester DVM

Dr. Richard Lester comes from a family of veterinarians, including a veterinary pathologist and two equine veterinarians. Graduating from Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999, Dr. Lester always had the intention of working solely with cats and has been practicing at feline-only hospitals since graduation.

He is married to Kathy, our Practice Manager, and has two grown children, a daughter-in-law, and three Abyssinians. In his spare time, Dr. Lester loves watching movies with friends and family, cooking, and, of course, playing with his cats.

Dr. Lester is a highly skilled veterinarian devoted to making sure your cat receives the quality of care and treatment they deserve. He and his experienced team are always willing to help make sure your cat’s needs are met. Because of his passion for providing care to felines, your cat will truly be in safe hands with Dr. Lester.

Mollie Zaback DVM

Dr. Zaback decided she wanted to be a veterinarian when she was 8 years old and began her veterinary journey in high school. She grew up outside of New Orleans and went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 2014. She’s been a part of our team since 2022.

Dr. Zaback started her career as an exotic animal vet, but cats have always been her true love, so it’s no surprise to anyone who knows her that she ultimately ended up in a feline-only practice. Her interests include internal medicine, pain management, and wound care. Outside of work, Dr. Zaback loves roller skating, doing puzzles, and traveling. She recently said good-bye to her beloved 19-year-old cat, Yoda, and will welcome a new furry loved one (or two!) when the time is right.

Kathy, the Practice Manager, co-founded the clinic with Dr. Lester after 25 years in Office Management and Bookkeeping. Kathy has been married to Dr. Lester since his vet school days at Washington State University in Pullman. While partial to Abyssinians and Tabbies, Kathy appreciates felines of all backgrounds.

When not at the clinic, Kathy enjoys gardening and spending time with her friends and family, including three cats, two grown sons, daughter-in-law, and two purrfect grandkitties.

Jeany

Receptionist

Jeany is the front desk receptionist and has been in this field for a very long time. She always enjoys meeting as many of the clients’ furry friends as possible, and it never gets old. She has had Siamese and Balinese cats all her life and loves how much they talk (most of the time). Every night she goes home to two handsome Siamese cross rescues who tell her all about their day and how the other one picked on them and was mean (just like brothers do). They keep her and her partner well entertained and rule the house. They shared most of their lives with two dogs who loved them, and even though the dogs have passed away, both boys will not let the family put the dogs’ blankets away because these remain their special areas in the house. Jeany cannot imagine life without these boys. She believes owning a pet is a special gift, offering unconditional love and companionship, and she feels blessed every day she has with them.

Claudia

Technician Assistant

Born and raised in Houston, TX, Claudia has always had a passion and interest in animals since childhood. Steve Irwin was a top role model for how she wanted to move through life. She completed the Veterinary Assistant Program with Pima Medical Institute in 2017. Claudia began her career at Memorial Cat Hospital in 2018 as a kennel assistant and worked her way up to being a technician. She has been working with cats for about 8 years and does not see herself doing anything else.

She moved to Washington in September 2024 to change her environment and has been loving it ever since. Her hobbies include video games, going to the gym, journaling, and more. Claudia always treats each cat with the same kindness and respect she gives her own. Her favorite cats to work with are the grumpy older kitties, as they require extra patience and understanding.
